To Josephine
Hi hi sisters ...... our dear sister Josephine, who always leave us with such enlightening and thoughtful words, is going through a major challenge in her life. Her precious daughter Sarina will be undergoing a major spinal surgery today. I know we hardly know each other outside the 'comments' window in this blog, but my heart is quite heavy since I learned this news from her. Maybe because we are mothers ourselves, or perhaps we really feel we are sisters in the same BYJ family. Many of our dear sisters are also deeply concerned and have poured out their well wishes for Josephine and her family.
From Catt :
Josephine, I will keep your daughter Sarina, her doctors and everyone concerned in prayer as well.
Our God is a mighty and awesome God, as well as a loving and compassionate Father God, who holds all in His hands. I am sure He will be supporting your daughter and family through the coming surgery.

Don't worry god is very kind and will look after your daughter during the surgery.

From xiaoyi :
Dear Josephine, Sorry to hear about your daughter's surgery. Please be strong and our prayers are with you!
From flowerbossa :
It is already Tuesday here in Japan, but I hope you are getting the rest you need to care for your daughter. Being a mother myself, I realize all too often that the hardest ordeals we go through are those concerning our children - but I am surprised and grateful that they usually seem to have the strength to pull through. My prayers will be with you and your family.
From yudi :
Dear Josephine, Although I am just a prayer learner ( I was baptized not for long), I will include Sarina and your family into my prayer with my faith. May God bless you.
Dear Josephine, please keep in your mind the heartfelt words from these wonderful sisters (and many other sisters' silent prayers) during your ordeal. We sincerely hope Sarina's operation will be a great success and she will have a swift recovery. Please also stay healthy so you have the strength to care for her, our prayers with you and your family .... love
P.S. please look at Yong Joon's smile, all your worries and fatigue will disappear :)

Dearest Jaime and Bae sisters:
Thank you very much for your prayers and positive thoughts. I really feel blessed being part of the Family. My daughter Sarina has gone through an eight to ten hours spinal operation and the prognosis is affirmative. Sarina is on her second masteral degree in preparation for a Ph. D. and she would be able to continue her studies. She has worked as a graduate and undergraduate professor, a newspaperwoman and corporate writer for ten years. And each time she came home, she would watched the Korean television melodrama. In fact, Sarina introduced me to Korean TV and Bae Yong Joon. I have asked her amazing surgeons (one is Korean American) if Sarina could walk and jump and dance soon. Already her professors and bosses are making the queue for the first dance! Do you think, it is too much to dream of dancing with Bae Yong Joon even in fantasy?
Sarang Hamnida,
josephine pasricha
Dear Josephine,
I just finished our evening prayer with my family, and was thinking how Sarina was doing. Then I am so happy to see your message that Sarina's operation is a success! So from this point on , she just has to be a good girl and stays in bed to rest :) When you wrote about dancing with Yong Joon, I know you are cheerful enough to joke, I feel very relieved for you. May God continue to take care of your family. Gambarimasu!
love .... Jaime

Jenny
Dear Josephine, so sorry to be so late, my life and syster have keep me away from my pc these days, I'm so happy to hear she is better and God willing on her way to recover, she sounds like a bright amazing capable young woman, also from my expirience there are no words to relive deep pain, but I'm hoping that the wroste is over and you will be happy when she can dance and jump and be herself again.
Yes I do hope for the Handsome man with the angel smile, maybe a bit of snow i the background would be just perfect.
Moontime
Dearest Jaime and Bae Sisters:
Thank you very much for all the prayers and positive thoughts.
The good news is that Sarina stood up for the first time, sat on the chair, ate soup for lunch, crackers and coke for snack, and her first solid dinner of rice and chicken. God is Great. And the surgeons (a neurosurgeon Korean American from Yale, an orthopedic surgeon Egyptian American from UPENN, a team of anaesthesiologists, all surgical assistants and nurses are really awesome.
It is God's Act! Like in the case of the surgery on the shoulder in Bae Yong Joon.
Sarang Hamnida,
josephine pasricha
Dearest Jaime and Bae sisters:
Thank you for giving me this space in your blog. I have read about the stress that you and some of our Bae sisters have during sickness and even in everyday life in the office and at home.
Three of the psychological techniques that my daughter, Sarina was trained in by doctors and professors before surgery were logotherapy (read Man's Search for meaning by Viktor Frankl),
positive psychology by Martin Seligman, head of psychology at UPENN, and Stress Innoculation Treatment (SIT) a paper from a University of Toronto scholar.
I also learned a lot from these three techniques amd apply it even in ordinary stressful events. I hope you can all read about them.
Sarang Hamnida,
josephine pasricha
Hi Josephine, I am happy to know that Sarina is able to get up so quickly and has good appetite. Thank you for the links, I'll check them out later.
Hi Hi Jelen, sorry I missed asking you, you had a similar surgery recently? I didn't realize that, I am glad everything went well with you :)
Hi Jenny, I meant to ask you also, are you fully recovered from your surgery? Hope you are doing fine :)
Please take care .... love, jaime
Dearest Jaime and Bae sisters:
Sarina has been transferred f rom the ICU to a regular room. From a liquid diet, she has moved on to a solid diet, although she does not want to eat food or drink liquid as much as she should. Within a week, she starts physical rehabilitation to learn how to stand, jump and dance again.
Indeed, the Lord Our God has turned tears into dancing, and night into light!
Thank you for all your prayers.
Sarang Hamnida,
josephine pasricha
Hi Jaime
My wound is recovering and hope it could recover fully soonest possible. Thanks a lot for your concern. I have a great and nice gathering with our bae sisters last saturday. Is really nice catching up with all of them. So how is your weekend? Do you rest well? Is heard that the flu is soaring in major countries in the newpaper. We have two confirmed cases here. Hope the swine flu will soon subside.
To Josephine
Very happy to hear that sarina already transfer to a regular room. Good news indeed and be patient for her recoveries.
Take care
Jenny
Dearest Jaime and Bae Sisters:
Greetings on a cloudy and rainy day that presages sunny tomorrow. The good news is that Sarina Pasricha has been discharged from the hospital, after laboratory tests and x-rays have been cleared, and she is now in the Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, where she will learn to walk, jump and dance.
God answers prayers!
In gratitude, sarang hamnida,
josephine pasricha
Dearest Jaime and Bae sisters:
I have been watching "Winter Sonata", specially the hospital scenes, and I have felt more empathy and sympathy now than I ever did when I watched those episodes before. They are no longer overacting melodrama to me. This is because Sarina is experiencing a roller coaster in her recovery process. She was transferred from the Rehabilitation Institute to the Hospital for blood tests and x-rays again. Her heart beat is fast at 140, but blood tests ruled out embolism and pneumonia. She has no embolism or pneumonia. The x-rays also indicate that her surgical wound is healing, looking good and dry. There are no secretions. The staples are in order (they do not do sutures in surgery anymore, but staples that dissolve in time). Please continue praying for God's healing power.
Sarang Hamnida,
josephine pasricha
Dearest Jaime and Bae sisters:
This is to bring you the Good News that today, June 17, 2009 -- Sarina Pasricha is coming home after a major spinal operation and one week of post operation care at the Pennsylvania Hospital, and one full month of rehabilitation at the Good Shepherd Penn Partners Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine.
Thank you for all your prayers and moral support.
Praise the Lord for Jesus Christ came to give life!
Sarang Hamnida,
josephine pasricha
