"You can dance, you can jive ....... Having the time of your life,
See that girl, watch that scene ....... Dig in the dancing queen!"
Yes yes, the wonderful music of ABBA is still ringing in my ears! If I am not sitting down and blogging now, I would have stood up and danced to my heart's content, hehe or until those old bones start to crack!
Last night, cloudnine (I heard that music is also ringing in her ears!), kiyomi, tamatamasan and I attended a special screening of MamaMia. Watching Meryl Streep and her 'young at heart' costars defying the odds on age and danced their sweats out, it just made me feel so alive and full of energy too! :)
How could we not think of our precious JunSang when the song 'Dancing Queen' came up? Hehe, we uttered Yujin and these images immediately popped up in my mind @@
This is an aside : It just happened last night there was a red carpet premiere event of Brad Pitt's new movie "The curious case of Benjamin Button", in the SAME cinema as ours! Well, I confess - we did try (not very hard though) to catch a glimpse of the glamorous Pitt-Jolie couple but was blocked by lots of young fans. They were not too far from us, so we did hear Brad Pitt spoke for a short while.
Coincidentally, last month I did catch a short glimpse of Keanu Reeves (by chance also) when he came to Tokyo for his movie premiere "The Day the Earth stood still". The guy looked pretty cool. Well, I guess if you live in LA/Hollywood, you probably bump into these stars in the supermarket everyday. But you have to excuse a country bumpkin like me who only lives in this glamorous city once, this 'convenient' chance is just too much of a waste to pass up :)
But for our Yonsama, I think he is one BIG exceptional case, even in the books of the Japanese entertainment industry and government. This man can cause airport shutdown, traffic standstill and throws media and public into total frenzy! Sigh, the chance of catching a glimpse of our gorgeous prince in Tokyo again, I might as well bet on bumping my coffee into Tom Cruise next time! Ah well, I prefer to keep my coffee :)

Aha! Just the kind of information I need right now!
To 'beard' or not to 'beard'? That WAS the question... a while back but now I'm curious about what happens in Japan when it's NOT Yonsama. Surely, there is SOME airport mayhem, no? I mean, this time was the #1 famous couple of the decade!
How about when top Japanese celebrities re-enter the country? Or someone like Tiger Woods? David Beckham with or without Posh?
And with K-celebs holding fan-meets in Japan, are there others that need arena-sized venues?
Sign me,
Curious Gosijo
Hi Jaime! Great to know you like the film. I am going to watch it again. I admit I like the story. It's light and do love ABBa. I may have a different feel to it this time;-)
Have a lovely weekend..
Love, Hyds
Dear Jaime and Bae sisters:
We are snowbound and homebound since the Chinese New Year on January 26. So I just went through the U Tube renditions of "Winter Sonata", which I could never finish before. It is so amazing how the scenes remain fresh and so appealing. "Winter Sonata" is indeed the "Romeo and Juliet" of our times.

Hi Jaime
I have a busy Chinese New Year. You know busy visiting relatives, relatives come visiting, gathering with classmate, friends and bae sisters. Last night I had a dinner with yokee and some bae sisters. We have our properity "yee sang". Do u know what is this?
You can only have yee sang in Malaysia last time but now I heard that Hong Kong already have. Is originally form Malaysia and only you can eat it during Chinese New Year.
Have a nice weekend.
Jenny
wow... envy..! i would love to see angelina jolie in person!!
come to think of it, i've never seen any hollywood stars in person :(
but i've had abit of luck with k-stars though... :p
p.s. me too watched mama mia when it screened in singapore a couple of months ago... as much as i like pierce brosnan (since remington steele days!!), i think he can't sing to save his life, haha!
First, apologies to Lady Jaime for addressing a comment to someone other than the blog author in this space.
Secondly, bb, you watched Remington Steele???? Whaaah, that was my all-time favourite series before discovering K-dramas! I always got the impression that I was the only one who'd ever bothered to watch RS but now I'm finding that's not the case at all:-D
I particularly loved the convoluted plots and the humour lurking just below the surface. Many watched for Remmy but, even if Pierce is undisputedly 'easy on the eyes', I was more into identifying with Laura. And wanting her hair, of course!!
Have a great weekend, everyone, what's left of it, anyway!
Me three ladies, loved Remington Steel and dreamed of having Laura's hair, AND loved Pierce's smokey attractive voice. ^^
He's the only James Bond I like after Sean Connery and Roger Moore.
Don't you girls love him in Noble House and Tai Pan??
love,
Y.
hahaha... i'm such a superficial gal... 'who's laura?' :p
LOL, bb, 'who's Laura?' Very funny!Rethorical question, right?
As for James Bond, I consider Pierce #1 in the role and Sean Connery a close #2 - I know, I'm a heretic! My absolute fave JB movie is Tomorrow Never Dies. As for Daniel Craig, sorry, I don't like him in that role. Don't particularly fancy him at all.
Couldn't help but commenting once more jaime. I like Pierce Brosnan too. He's the Bond while my other half thinks it's Connery. Agree with Gosijo on Daniel Craig. He's the male alternative of Keira Knightely or Posh Spice. Ouch! Can't be that bad for sure ;-)
Anyway I watched it again over a glass of Rioja. And like it a lot this time. I know why I didn't like it much. It reminds me of my mum. She loves to sing. It's not bad at all, just made me miss her.
Love, Hyds
Princess, you are asking who Laura is in Remington Steele @.@ you are pulling my leg, aren't you???
She is Steele's sort of partner.
The lady with a lot of frackles, but very pretty, remember now??
love,
Y.
hehe, i remember laura's his partner, but save for the wavy(?) hair, i can hardly remember anything about her... :p
then again, it was sooooo... long ago (and we were really quite young then, no?)
p.s. pierce brosnan would really be how i would picture bond to be too! sean connery was prolly quite good too, except that he was old by the time i got interested in men :p
but i adore sean connery's voice much much!
p.p.s. me too, me too! daniel craig doesn't do anything at all for me :p
i just googled... remington steele was aired 1982-1987...
by george, i was not even a teenager when they started airing!
Sorry sorry ladies for answering late, I missed all the fun. Me five me five, Pierce Brosnan is the only James Bond for me :)
Hahaha Hyds, Posh Spice? The way the Beckham couple shows off their wealth and themselves just gives me goosebumps. I much prefer the Pitt-Jolie glamour - using their power to improve the world.
love ... jaime
omigosh princess, you were practically a BABY! Pierce Brosnan is like your daddy and Sean Connery would be like your Grandpa :)
Haha, Pierce, Sean and the young flower boys, Don't you think our Yong Joon will be jealous?
love ... jaime
Dear Josephine,
Yes, I heard about the snow storm in the East last week. Hopefully you have dug out of the snow and everything is back to normal now.
I am glad you find comfort in watching Winter Sonata, try April Snow too, it does make winter more bearable. It actually crossed my mind that I wonder if you will even stay in Philadelphia for next winter after this experience?
Please take care ok, just 2 more months.

Dear jenny,
Please excuse me for replying late. Glad to hear you had fun with yokee. Sorry but what is Yee Sang? A Chinese NY food? I try to think but can't seem to figure out what it is? sweet? salty? You like it? I miss NY food! hehe, I meant New Year, not New York :)
love ... Jaime
Hi Hi Yee,
NOBLE HOUSE and TAIPAN?! I think you just took me down memory lane. I have such fond memories of those TV mini-series. Remember they were sooooooo popular at one time, back in the 80s? Great stories and stars, good production.

Dear gosijo,
I know Yong Joon has broken all kinds of records in Japan as far as a celebrity is concerned.
Not that I am biased, I really think Ryu Si Won is the other Korean star who can draw a large crowd in Japan as a singer of Japanese songs, not a Korean drama actor. He had 30 round-the-country concerts last summer, tickets all sold out, the Tokyo ones were in Saitama arena seats 35000! This had been happening for the last 4 years, but he doesn't get a lot of coverage as other Hallyu stars.

Hi Jaime
Yeh yee sang only available during Chinese new year. Have carrot, pamelo, onion, yam , salmon , peanuts ,some crispy stuff and etc. Most of the stuff are raw and eat together with one kind of sauce where it will taste sweet and sour. Very tasty.
Love it. Already ate five times this new year and will go again today with some ex- colleagues.

Oh my dear flowerbossa,
thank you so much for coming to my rescue, you are so kind :) I was so surprised to see Makishi san's comment this morning! Of course, I was shaking and brought all my Nihongo textbooks in front of the computer to compose a reply to her. I hope you can let her know I wish to express more gratitude to her contribution to our BYJ family but is limited by my very basic Nihongo :( Yes, I hope I will have a chance to see her again too.
Dear flowerbossa, if you see any mistakes in my reply, please feel free to point it out. I am most worried that I might have written something impolite or too casual that I did not intend, thank you so much. Have a nice day!
love ... Jaime
HI Jenny,
Thanks for explaining 'Yee Sang' to me. Now I am pretty sure I have never seen it before. It sounds wonderful, have fun eating with your friends again. You are very lucky to have easy access to all these delicious Chinese food :)
Enjoy!
love ... Jaime
Hi sisters .... in case you are wondering if I was writing Martian to Makishi san. THis is the romanized version of Japanese, it's an easier way for dumb gaijin like me to be introduced to Japanese. Now for people who don't use English like Koreans (Yong Joon?) and Chinese, they actually learn Hiragana and Katakana directly, which is properly a better way :)
Thank you flowerbossa for translating Makishi san's comment, I sort of guessed her meaning, but your translation gives me much more details which I never learn, thank you so much! Hehe, just in case anyone is interested, here's my very crude reply :
Dear Makishi san,
Good afternoon, welcome.
The day before yesterday's BSJ event was very enjoyable. Everyone in BSJ are very kind and helpful people, thank you very much.
Afterwards, I met you for the first time, I was really happy. Makishi san is a famous Quilt and BYJGallery etc. family. I have watched many of your BYJ VODS, they are very good, thank you very much.
Excuse me, my Japanese is poor. Very nice to meet you. Please take care and See you again.
love ..... Jaime
Dear Jaime,Thank you so much!
